ACADEMIA DE PSICOANALISIS MADRID SL

Psychoanalytic training, clinical seminars and supervision for clinicians and students who read Freud and Lacan closely.

  • Training programmes
  • Clinical supervision
  • Certified modules

How this academy works

Seminars that stay with the text

We read Freud and Lacan in sequence, paragraph by paragraph, in the order the work was written. Commentary comes after the text, not instead of it.

Supervision in small groups

Clinical material is presented by participants and discussed with the group. Numbers are kept small so every case presented gets its own session time.

Certification by module

Each completed training module is certified in writing, so your formation is documented as it accumulates rather than only at the end.

Materials in the academy app

Enrolled participants get reading lists, seminar handouts and recordings of sessions, so a missed evening does not mean a missed argument.

Lectures open to the public

Conferences and single lectures on psychoanalytic theory are open to anyone considering formal study, not only to enrolled participants.

Admission begins with a conversation

Before enrolling, you speak with an academic coordinator about your background, your clinical practice and which track fits it.

Programmes, seminars and groups

Tracks run alongside clinical practice. You can combine them or take one on its own.

Most asked about

Formal programme in psychoanalytic training

The structured, multi-year route through theory, clinic and the history of the movement, taken in modules.

  • Theory seminars across the full curriculum
  • Clinical case work from the first year
  • Written certification per completed module
  • Tutor assigned for the duration

Clinical supervision group

A standing group for practising clinicians who present their own material and discuss the direction of the treatment.

  • Case presented by a participant each session
  • Written-up material circulated beforehand
  • Small, closed group for the cycle

Freud reading seminar

A slow reading of the Freudian corpus in order, from the early writings on hysteria onward.

  • Set passage read and discussed each session
  • Editions and translations compared
  • Open to students as well as clinicians

Lacan study group

Work on the Seminars and the Écrits, with the Freudian references kept open on the table beside them.

  • One seminar followed across the cycle
  • Schemas and graphs worked through on the board
  • Reading list issued at the start

  • Module progress and certificates

Calendars, group sizes and enrolment conditions for the current cycle are sent with the reply to your enquiry.

From enquiry to enrolment

  1. Send your enquiry

Tell us your professional background and what you want to study — the formal programme, a seminar, or supervision for work you are already doing.

  2. Orientation interview

You speak with an academic coordinator. No commitment to enrol: the point is to establish which track your training and clinical situation call for.

  3. Choose your track and cycle

You receive the current calendar, the reading list and the module structure, and decide what to take and when to start.

  4. Enrol and begin

Your place in the group is confirmed, access to materials in the app opens, and each module you complete is certified in writing.

What participants say

★★★★★
The supervision group changed how I write up a case. Presenting to colleagues who ask about the transference rather than the technique was the part I had been missing.
Marta, clinical psychologist
★★★★★
I came for the Lacan seminar expecting commentary and found a line-by-line reading instead. Slow, demanding, and the only way I have managed to hold the argument.
Javier, psychiatrist
★★★★☆
Being able to re-listen to a session in the app made the Freud group possible around my timetable. The reading load is real, and they are honest about it in the interview.
Elena, psychology student

Before you write to us

Do I need to be a qualified clinician to enrol?

Not for every track. The formal training programme and the supervision groups are addressed to psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists; the Freud and Lacan reading seminars and the public lectures are also open to students and to those approaching psychoanalysis from neighbouring fields. The orientation interview settles which applies to you.

Is personal analysis expected of participants?

Psychoanalytic formation has always rested on three legs: theory, supervised clinical work and the analysand's own analysis. We discuss your situation in the orientation interview rather than applying a blanket rule, and we do not place participants with analysts from the academy's own teaching staff.

Can I take a seminar without joining the full programme?

Yes. Reading seminars, study groups and supervision run as independent cycles. Many participants begin with one and move into the formal programme later; modules already completed are recognised when they do.

What language are the seminars taught in, and which editions are read?

Teaching language and the editions and translations used are fixed per group, and we confirm both for the current cycle when we reply to your enquiry, so you know exactly which volumes to obtain before the first session.

What does certification actually certify?

It records the modules you have completed within this academy's curriculum — attendance, the clinical work presented and the requirements met. It is a record of formation with us, not a state licence to practise; professional registration is governed separately by the relevant Spanish bodies.

Do I have to attend in person?

Attendance arrangements differ between the programme, the supervision groups and the open lectures. Recordings and materials are available in the app to enrolled participants, but some groups are built on presence in the room. Ask about the specific group you are considering.

Ask about the current cycle

Tell us your background and what you want to study. We will reply with the calendar and the next step.

  • An academic coordinator reads every enquiry personally.
  • You receive the current seminar calendar and reading lists.
  • The first step is an orientation interview — no commitment to enrol.
